Christian Lyke 1813 Halesworth Lane Webster NY 14589

5/19/2026

To the Town of Webster Board of Trustees / Zoning Board,

I am writing to respectfully request approval to keep a small number of hens on my residential property located at 1813 Halesworth Lane for the purpose of personal egg production.

My intention is to maintain a clean, safe, and well-managed coop that will provide fresh eggs for my household while remaining respectful of neighboring properties and the surrounding community. The hens would be used strictly for egg production and not for commercial purposes.

I understand and appreciate the importance of maintaining neighborhood standards and minimizing any impact on nearby residents. To ensure this, I plan to:

* Keep only hens and no roosters, eliminating concerns regarding noise.

« Maintain a secure and enclosed coop/run area designed to be clean, attractive, and properly maintained.

¢ Regularly clean and manage waste to prevent odor and pests.

¢ Store feed in sealed containers to avoid attracting rodents or wildlife.

¢ Ensure the hens remain confined to the property at all times.

¢ Limit the number of hens to an appropriate amount for residential use.

In addition to providing a sustainable food source for my family, keeping hens promotes self-sufficiency, education

regarding responsible animal care, and environmentally conscious living practices. Many surrounding communities have successfully allowed backyard hens with minimal issues when properly maintained.

I am committed to being a responsible property owner and neighbor and would gladly comply with any reasonable conditions, inspections, or guidelines required by the board.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this request. I appreciate the opportunity to present this proposal and would be happy to answer any questions or provide additional information if needed.

Sincerely,

Christian Lyke
