Mrs. Jones passed away in 2024 after retirement from the district in 2018. In accordance with Regulation 4180 – Health Insurance Participation, the immediate family of deceased employees are eligible to continue medical and dental insurance coverage at their own expense, providing premium payments are made to the Benefits Office before they become due. Membership shall not extend beyond a 12-month period unless individually approved by the Board of Education. In discussion with Mr. Jones, he agreed to continue the insurance coverage with the district and to pay the full monthly premium charge for the medical benefit, in accordance with Regulation 4180. The current monthly cost for the Aetna Medicare Advantage Plan is $91. I recommend that he be approved to continue in our medical, as group coverage represents a significant cost savings when compared with the same plan billed to him directly.
