It’s personal… The Music Department is an alternate universe where pupils are often unrecognisable from who they are outside of it.
The shy become confident. The agitated become calm. The lonely become included. The quiet become heard. And the lost become found. Music reveals the real child.

Executive Functions
When thinking of removing barriers for students, is it the Artistic concept they struggle with, or something else?

What do these Executive Functions remind you of…?
“How do we support our students to make authentic choices and use that powerful voice wisely?” from Equity by Design

Step up to the mic!
How have the Fine Arts changed or brightened your year?
With all the places you could gravitate toward, why is the Fine Arts Department your physical, mental or emotional safe space?

Empathy… In addition to artistic endeavors themselves, empathy is also learned through a well-rounded education that includes the Fine Arts. The Fine Arts have been said to be a ‘universal language’ due to their connection in every civilization throughout history across the globe. I’d say the greater purpose is as a ‘universal form of expression.’ I can learn to empathize with you if you are willing to be vulnerable through Music and Art - thus sharing openly how you feel. This kind of communication makes us human. 21
