BOE Standardization Memo
Dear Mr. Brian Freeman, Based on discussions had with Director of Facilities, Blaine Cunningham, Director of Technology, Brian Zimmer, Director of Security, Neil Flood, and Campus Construction, it is the opinion of LaBella Associates that the Webster Central School District request authorization from the Webster Central School District Board of Education to pass resolutions to standardize the following products: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Access controls, Day Automation Access control equipment/software is Avigilon Audio entry controls, Day Automation Audio entry equipment is Aiphone Base and floor tile, Armstrong Boiler/cooling tower water treatment, Metro Group Boilers, Fulton Camera systems FLIR-DVTEL, JCI Johnson Controls Chillers, Daikin Door Closers, LCN or Norton Door hardware, Best Access Drinking fountains, Elkay Electrical distribution, Square D Exist hardware, Precision Hardware Fire alarm system, Johnson Controls HVAC controls, Day Automation HVAC equipment/software is Avigilon HVAC drives, Square D Intrusion detection controls, Day Automation Intrusion detection equipment is Bosch Lighting, Lithonia Network access points, Cisco Network phones, Cisco Network rack enclosure, Middle-Atlantic Paging System, BOGEN Playground materials, GameTime Pumps, Bell & Gossett
Given the significant investment the Webster Central School District has made purchasing and installing these products, best practice is to standardize them because:
• •
Repair and maintenance costs will be minimized Material, supplies, parts, or equipment can be stocked for quick replacement
• • • • •
Modifications to existing equipment will be minimized or made unnecessary Training requirements for building mechanics will be significantly reduced or eliminated Proper operation will require single brand or trade name supplies or equipment to be compatible with existing supplies or equipment · Overall purchase or operational costs would be minimized Interfaces will be uniform and compatible, staff will be trained on a single system, ordering may be done through a single vendor, and service operations can be handled through a single vendor;
Please let me know if any additional information is needed. Respectfully submitted, LaBella Associates
