As part of the ongoing remediation and recovery efforts in and around room S-10 at Schroeder High School the estimated cost has increased significantly. At this point it would be fiscally irresponsible not to submit this as an emergency project to SED to attain building aid for the work that needs to be done. This will help mitigate the insurance impacts (long term claims history) and utilize the available programs at the state level for building aid. The funds are available to perform this work through our facilities and maintenance budget lines. This project should also qualify for state building aid at our current aid ratio of 75%. The unaided portion of the project will then be submitted to the insurance carrier for coverage. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you.

EMERGENCY PROJECT WHEREAS, the Webster Central School District’s Architect, LaBella Associates, has determined a recent fire at Webster Schroeder High School has caused extensive damage and requires immediate repair, replacement and reconstruction of the facility and grounds: and WHEREAS, the Board of Education has received and considered the report of its Architects regarding the necessity for the immediate repair, replacement and reconstruction at Webster Schroeder High School; and WHEREAS, the Emergency Project work is required to preserve the health and safety of the students and staff and for protection of the District's property; and WHEREAS, LaBella Associates has opined that this scope of work is a Type II SEQRA action. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1. The Board has determined that the fire repair, replacement and reconstruction at Webster Schroeder High School is a Type II Action under the regulations of the State Environmental Quality Review Act, requiring no further review. 2. The Board of Education hereby finds pursuant to the Education Law, the fire repair, replacement and reconstruction at Webster Schroeder High School is an Emergency Project necessary to preserve the health and safety of students and staff and for the protection of the school property; and that the project is an ordinary contingent expense. 3. The maximum estimated cost of the Emergency Project as determined by LaBella Associates, the School District’s Architect, is approximately $1,000,000. The funding source for the project will be the General Fund balance and to the maximum extent possible, state building aid and insurance proceeds. 4. The Superintendent of Schools and all officers and employees of the District are hereby authorized and directed to take all steps reasonably necessary or appropriate to complete the Emergency Project and to carry out the intent of this Resolution and to apply for any eligible state building aid and to recover any available insurance proceeds. 5.
