PROSAR Structure Update
(Parks Recreation Open Space Athletic Review)
Presentation Topics 1- PROSAR • Overview of current PROSAR structure 2- Recommendation for the creation of three (3) Citizen Focus Groups • Recreation programs and events • Parks and Open Space • 55+ Programming 3- Creation and Structure of three(3) Citizen Focus Groups
PROSAR Original purpose of PROSAR is no longer effective, ie: we do not discuss field usage or space usage (fieldhouse etc). Current structure is more 1 sided than a group discussion or collaborative structure. There is a department need for community input which ideally is provided for a specific core area of the department. Looking for more specific feedback from the community.
Recreation Programs and Events • Provide a focus on current and future programs and events offered through the department. Provide suggestions and input on new programming. • Katie Kovar- Recreation Director
55+ Programming • Provide a focus on senior programming and provide opportunities for changing senior program needs. • Daphne Geoca-Recreation Supervisor/ 55+ Coordinator This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND
Parks and Open Space • Provide a focus on current parks and properties including the features and amenities w/in them. Provide input on use of current town land and future opportunities as they arise. • Glenn Morrell-Parks Director
Creation and Structure of 3 Focus Groups Each focus group would ideally have 4-5 residents and participate in quarterly meetings or as needed* to discuss specific items related directly to the area of focus. *(when there is a unique situation relating to the focus group, ie: the town is considering acquiring a parcel of land and wish to know the potential use for recreation)
Town will accept any individual to a focus group at any time (there is no “term limit”). The focus groups are Advisory groups, so the formal structure of appointments is not necessary. If we receive more interest for each group than the preferred group size of 4-5 residents we can easily accommodate. We have 3 current PROSAR members who have indicated their interest to participate in this new format and all 3 are interested in one of the suggested focus groups.
