SANDBAR PARK Food Truck Service 2025
November 2024 - May 2025 November 7, 2024: • Presentation to the Town Board detailing the results of the public bid for a “brick and mortar” structure. • Town Board was provided with 4 options to consider, ultimately the decision to not construct a brick and mortar restaurant. Due to the bid results and subsequent cost to an occupant it was decided to move forward with option 4- “Look at less costly options to provide seasonal food option within the Park (ie: food truck space)”.
January 2025: • Parks and Recreation department staff met to discuss options for food service at Sandbar Park. Agreement was made that for 2025 food truck service would be best option to consider. • Created a survey that was emailed to 26 different food truck vendors asking for their input on food truck operations from June 2025September 2025. Received 14 responses from the initial survey. Questions included availability, services provided and commitment level.
November 2024 - May 2025 February 2025 • Began to meet one on one with the food truck vendors (8) who indicated via the survey they were willing to meet and discuss this opportunity. Meeting was a chance to discuss structure to food truck service at Sandbar Park. March 2025 • After individual meetings, six food truck operators were interested in participating in 2025. • A google doc was created to allow operators to select dates and times they wish to provide food service. We limited the option to 1 truck per day/night.
April 2025 • Initial schedule from June 1- September 15 was created, insurance and permit application were collected from each of the food truck operators. • A promotional campaign was created to promote and advertise the food truck lineup from June 1-September 15 • Picnic tables were installed at Sandbar Park in the location of the food truck location. May 2025 • Final schedule was completed • Promotional flyers created and ready to be shared with approval • Town Board presentation May 15 • Promotion to begin on May 16

The schedule will be updated every TWO weeks, the schedule will be available on the Town website (recreation page, flyer will be a link on the main page) and on all Town social media accounts. We have encouraged all food truck operators to promote on their social media accounts. Signage will be displayed at the Park with directions on where the schedule can be found. We will promote the service at the 5 marinas located on Irondequoit Bay.

Future Options to consider • Based on how the food truck service program goes in 2025 there may be other options to consider beyond Food Trucks but not at the cost of brick and mortar building. • Example: Seasonal storage container onsite that offer food and or beverage. The operation could be contracted out to an operator who would not have the expense of a bond to payback like a brick and mortar facility would require. This would likely not require approval from State agencies as the structures are not permanent. • This option also allows for the site to have the availability during busy seasonal months or on as needed basis.
