2018 Capital Improvement Project Final Report
Thomas High School ✓ An addition to the Tech Wing was completed featuring a new automotive shop. An entirely new 2,150 square foot space is now utilized by students. Renovations to the original technology wing included new lights, case work, ceilings, and equipment. ✓ Cafeteria ceilings and lights were improved as well as multiple classrooms and all hallway corridors. ✓ Roofing above the area of the school locker rooms was replaced. A full tear off was performed over the kitchen area, including new skylights, and over the original tech wing resurfacing was completed. ✓ In the field house, the athletic flooring was replaced. ✓ In the gym, the floor was resurfaced and received new striping and decals. ✓ The pool tile received grout replacement and cleaning. The pool deck was replaced with epoxy flooring and new Thomas logos were installed. ✓ Dehumidification technology was also replaced at the Thomas pool and a new mechanical room was built to contain the pumps and other infrastructure. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ Window replacements were installed around courtyards and the south café. ✓ Thomas High School’s site improvements touched upon the athletic fields and parking areas. ✓ These improvements include adding a multipurpose turf field which included state of the art lighting solutions. ✓ The softball and baseball fields received new scoreboards, backstops, dugouts with power and water lines, and fencing. ✓ Thomas’s turf football stadium has a new sound system and visual display board. ✓ Air Condition units were added in press boxes to better secure audio visual technology. ✓ Parking areas received new pavement, water drainage and curbing in several areas. ✓ A new pole barn, with power, was also built.
Schroeder High School ✓ The library now includes a coffee bar, technology bar, a reading room enclosed by a glass accordion wall, new wall facades, new furniture, new railings, and revamped spaces. ✓ Restrooms were renovated as a part of the project. Lighting, ceiling, epoxy flooring, and wall tile were all added. New toilets, partitions, and sinks were also installed. ✓ Locker rooms received flooring and drainage repairs. Foundation repair was performed on the boy’s locker room’s foundation. ✓ House offices including security, athletic, food service, etc were improved. Asbestos abatement, ceilings, lighting, flooring, and painting were completed. ✓ LED lighting and controls were installed in the music wing. ✓ In SW-6 a new overhead door and asphalt entranceway was installed. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ Site improvements were a central part of this project at Schroeder High School. Storm retention and water quality were addressed in all areas. Sidewalks and curbing found throughout the school’s grounds were repaired or replaced. In some areas new asphalt resulted from this project such as in the front parking lot. ✓ The track areas saw new Musco field lights, video display board/scoreboard, an interior grass field, a new eight lane track was constructed, as well as track and field grandstands. ✓ The softball and baseball turf fields and lighting were done. Softball and baseball scoreboards were added, as were fencing, batting cages, press box grandstands, and backstops. Player benches were constructed. They include power and water. Drainage and retainage ponds for these fields were also constructed. ✓ Shot-put and long jump areas were added to the athletic areas expanding the plethora of options available to students. ✓ New pole barn was built for additional storage with power. ✓ A new Daktronics electronic video display board/scoreboard and sound system was installed at the football field stadium. ✓ Colorado electronic video display board/scoreboard and sound system was installed in the Aquatic Center as well as new LED lighting above the pool. ✓ Brick foundation was repaired on the Southeast wall of the building.
Dewitt E.S. ✓ The library corridor was renovated as well as the library itself. In the library there is new LED lighting, ceilings, paint, a trophy case, wall tile within the corridor, and casework. ✓ Main office renovations include flooring, LED lighting, ceilings, painting, and a security window. ✓ Peg board wall covering was replaced with Durasand board along with classroom casework. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ Sitework was also completed on playground upgrades. Existing playground equipment that was outdated and unsafe was removed. State Road E.S. ✓ State Road Elementary School had several changes as a result of work performed during the Capital Improvement Project. ✓ Playground upgrades were also performed at the elementary school. ✓ Indoor improvements were similar to other elementary schools as the library and library corridor. The corridor received tile and the library itself now has new LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, and paint. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ A security window was added as well as LED lighting, casework, paint, and ceilings in the main office. ✓ All classrooms, the art room, cafetorium received new LED lighting, painting, and ceiling work. Prefinished gypsum board was added in the classrooms as well. ✓ Non-rescue windows were replaced involving abatement, casework, and HVAC work. ✓ Main office renovations were completed which included new LED lighting, ceiling work, and paint.
Plank South E.S. ✓ The library was renovated as was the corridor leading to it. As seen in other elementary school’s improvements. Corridor tile was added. Within the library upgrades include LED lighting, paint, ceilings, and flooring. ✓ The vestibule doors and controls were replaced, the vestibule was renovated, and safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ Window replacement was done as well safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ Full depth parking lot repair was performed at Plank Road South Elementary School. ✓ Playground upgrades were also completed. Plank North E.S. ✓ The library was renovated as was the corridor leading to it. As seen in other elementary school’s improvements. Corridor tile was added. Within the library upgrades include LED lighting, paint, ceilings, and flooring. ✓ The main office has had a security window installed with new furniture. ✓ The vestibule doors and controls were replaced, the vestibule was renovated, and safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ A full depth parking lot was replaced. ✓ Playground upgrades were also completed. ✓ A 125 kva Generator was also replaced, improving the school’s electrical infrastructure.
Klem North E.S. ✓ The parking lot was milled, pavement replaced, as well as a full depth parking lot repair that included a new traffic flow pattern. ✓ Playground upgrades were also performed at the elementary school. ✓ Indoor improvements were similar to other elementary schools as the library and library corridor. The corridor received tile and the library itself now has new LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, and paint. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ A security window was added as well as LED lighting, casework, paint, and ceilings in the main office. ✓ All classrooms, the art room, cafetorium received new LED lighting, painting, and ceiling work. Schlegel E.S. ✓ The parking lot was milled, pavement replaced, as well as a full depth parking lot repair. ✓ A new outdoor classroom space was added. ✓ Playground upgrades were also performed at the elementary school along with a new basketball court in a safer location. ✓ Indoor improvements were similar to other elementary schools as the library and library corridor. The corridor received tile and the library itself now has new LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, and paint. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ A security window was added as well as LED lighting, casework, paint, and ceilings in the main office. ✓ All classrooms, the art room, and cafetorium received new LED lighting, painting, and ceiling work. Prefinished gypsum board was added in the classrooms as well. ✓ Non-rescue windows were replaced involving abatement, casework, and HVAC work. ✓ The main office area was renovated which included LED lighting, ceilings, and paint.
Willink Middle School ✓ There were mechanical upgrades building wide to the HVAC system. ✓ The library was renovated to include new casework, furniture, reading spaces, and other renovations for modern updates. ✓ The broadcasting studio has been updated to meet the needs of student and staff production. It now has a green screen used in morning broadcasts and other educational and athletic related messaging. ✓ As seen in the elementary school the library and library corridor were renovated. These upgrades included flooring, LED lighting, a bathroom with tile walls and an epoxy floor, as well as casework. ✓ Safety films were applied to designated window areas throughout the building. ✓ A new security office was added to the main entrance. ✓ New LED lighting and ceilings were completed in the music wing.
Transportation Building ✓ An additional storage area was added to the transportation building, to address growing needs faced by the district. ✓ A full-service bus wash was added. ✓ Improved infrastructure added include compressed air, vehicle exhaust, and a fluids system. ✓ New electrical poles and lighting throughout the parking lot. ✓ The fuel island was renovated, and tank replacements were completed to a more secure location at the facility. ✓ The bus radio system has also been upgraded as a part of the project. ✓ Wetland mitigation and drainage improvements to the grounds. ✓ Additional employee and guest parking were added. ✓ The bus parking area was reconfigured to meet the needs of drivers and increase efficiency and ease of access. ✓ A motorized entrance gate and new fencing were added. ✓ Renovations were performed that enhanced several spaces including offices, the dispatch area, and the driver’s breakroom underwent ceiling work, LED lighting, flooring replacement, and fresh paint.
